ETHEKWINI, KZN – A FAW truck carrying paving company employees overturned on Inanda Road near Tea Estate on Friday morning, injuring fourteen people.
Emergency services, including the eThekwini Fire Department, KZN VIP, and Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), arrived at the scene shortly after the accident.
Reports suggest the truck flipped over while the driver was trying to avoid another vehicle.Paramedics treated the injured workers on-site before taking them to different hospitals.
The victims had injuries that ranged from minor to moderate, and thankfully, there were no fatalities.
A bystander, Sibongile Mthethwa, who saw the aftermath, mentioned that the incident left many feeling unsettled.”We heard a loud bang and rushed outside.
The workers were calling for help, but we’re thankful that emergency teams got there quickly,” she said.Another witness, Mandla Dlamini, commended the first responders for their quick actions.”The rescue teams acted professionally.
They ensured everyone received attention before transporting the injured to the hospital,” he said.Authorities have started an investigation to find out the exact cause of the accident. Motorists are advised to be cautious while driving through the area as emergency crews work to clear the scene.
