Pitso Mosimane is set to make a dramatic return to the Bafana Bafana hot seat, with the experienced coach reportedly confirmed as the national team’s new head coach, pending the finalisation of “some loose ends”.
The appointment would mark Mosimane’s second spell in charge of South Africa’s senior men’s national team. He previously coached Bafana Bafana between 2010 and 2012, gaining valuable experience at international level.
The 62-year-old has since established himself as one of Africa’s most successful coaches, building an impressive managerial record both domestically and internationally.
Mosimane’s biggest achievements include winning the CAF Champions League three times. He lifted the prestigious continental trophy once with Mamelodi Sundowns before guiding Egyptian giants Al Ahly to back-to-back Champions League triumphs.
His return comes with expectations high among South African football supporters, who will hope his experience, tactical knowledge and winning mentality can help Bafana Bafana maintain their progress on the international stage.
While the final details of the appointment are still being completed, Mosimane’s reported return could usher in a new chapter for the national team.
