eThekwini Municipality has officially launched National Clean-Up Month, urging residents and businesses to take greater responsibility for keeping communities clean and protecting the environment.
The launch, held at KwaMashu Community Hall in Section L, was held under the theme “It Starts With Me” and brought together municipal officials, residents and stakeholders.
A key focus was a former illegal dumping site in Section L, which has been cleared and rehabilitated through a greening project that included planting trees to discourage further illegal dumping.
The City will roll out clean-up, greening, educational and community mobilisation initiatives across eThekwini throughout September.
Residents and business owners have been urged to dispose of waste responsibly, avoid littering and illegal dumping, and take part in local clean-up initiatives.
