KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli has officially handed over the new R47 million Eshane Study Library, bringing renewed hope and opportunities for learners, educators and residents of the Eshane community in the uMvoti Local Municipality.
The state-of-the-art facility was officially handed over on Friday, 21 August 2026, following the completion of construction at the end of July.
The project was led by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Sport, Arts and Culture under MEC Mntomuhle Khawula.
Speaking during the handover, Premier Ntuli said access to information and education was essential to building stronger and more empowered communities.
“A knowledgeable public is an empowered public,” Ntuli said, highlighting the importance of investing in facilities that give communities access to knowledge and learning opportunities.
The new library includes a main library block, guard house, parking facilities and secure fencing. It is expected to become an important resource centre for learners, educators and the broader Eshane community.
MEC Khawula said the project demonstrated the provincial government’s commitment to improving literacy and creating opportunities through access to information.
