KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli has declared September a month of intensified cleaning and law-enforcement operations, warning that communities across the province should expect a stronger government presence in the fight against crime, illegal activities and non-compliance.
Through Operation Engangeni Ngesango Iyafohla, government teams and law-enforcement agencies are being deployed across various districts to restore law and order, strengthen border security and ensure businesses and individuals comply with the law.
The operation has already resulted in 29 arrests of people found to be in the province unlawfully, while several businesses were closed for failing to meet legal and regulatory requirements.
For residents who wake up each morning to littered streets, illegal trading and concerns about safety, the operation brings a simple message: government says it wants cleaner, safer communities where people can live and work without fear.
Premier Ntuli said the intensified operations will continue throughout September, with government working alongside law-enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to enforce accountability.
The Premier’s message is clear — September will not simply be a month on the calendar, but a month of action aimed at cleaning up KwaZulu-Natal, both physically and through stronger law enforcement.
