US Consul-General Meets eThekwini Mayor to Enhance Relations

eThekwini Municipality’s Mayor, Councillor Cyril Xaba, greeted the newly appointed United States Consul-General, His Excellency James Liddle, during a courtesy visit at Durban City Hall.

Liddle expressed gratitude for the city’s warm reception, calling Durban a gateway to Africa and beyond. He emphasized that enhancing cooperation between Durban, Los Angeles, and New Orleans would be a primary goal.

Mayor Xaba expressed his enthusiasm for strengthening current sister-city agreements and transforming them into valuable opportunities for personal and business connections.

James Liddle expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome he has received since arriving in the city, describing Durban as an important gateway to the African continent and the rest of the world.

“Meeting Mayor Xaba was my highest priority, as we need to discuss how we are going to work together for the benefit of our people,” said Liddle.

The Consul-General said he was committed to strengthening relations between the United States and eThekwini, including sister-city cooperation between Durban, Los Angeles and the port city of New Orleans.
