Investors have pledged a massive R124.5 billion investment in KwaZulu-Natal, exceeding the provincial government’s 2026 target of R95 billion by R29.5 billion.

The announcement was made during the 2026 KZN Investment Conference held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban on Thursday, 15 October.

The conference was attended by KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli, Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Parks Tau, Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs MEC Reverend Musa Zondi, eThekwini Mayor Cyril Xaba and business leaders.

Addressing investors, Premier Ntuli acknowledged concerns about recent unrest in Durban but urged businesses not to lose confidence in the province.

He said global conflicts and rising living costs were affecting countries worldwide, adding that KwaZulu-Natal was also affected by international developments.

Ntuli assured investors that the provincial government was committed to maintaining stability and creating a favourable environment for businesses.“As Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, I assure you that Durban will never again under my watch,” he said.

The Premier also emphasised that the investment pledges should benefit communities across all districts rather than being concentrated in a few areas.“A province that grows in one place is a province at risk,” Ntuli said.He encouraged investors to take advantage of the province’s economic opportunities, declaring that KwaZulu-Natal remained open for business.

The R124.5 billion pledge represents a significant boost to the province’s efforts to attract investment, support economic growth and create employment opportunities.

The government’s challenge now is to turn these investment pledges into projects that deliver jobs and tangible benefits for residents.
