A major healthcare expansion project in Scottburgh has been completed following funding support from the Ithala Development Finance Corporation (IDFC), marking a significant boost for local healthcare services and economic development in KwaZulu-Natal. Ngwane Medics (Pty) Ltd, trading as Isibusiso Health, officially completed the expansion after securing business funding from IDFC.
The development includes the construction of an additional floor at the healthcare facility, creating space for new tenants such as a pharmacy and laboratory services. The project is expected to improve access to essential healthcare for residents in Scottburgh and nearby communities while also creating opportunities for business growth and employment.
Isibusiso Health was founded by Dr Roberto Mlondolozi Khanyile, a medical practitioner with more than 10 years of experience. Established initially as a private medical practice in 2013, the business has since evolved into a formal company focused on expanding healthcare delivery in the province.
IDFC said the investment demonstrates the important role development finance institutions can play in supporting locally owned enterprises and strengthening service infrastructure in underserved communities.
The expansion is also expected to stimulate economic activity through tenant opportunities and increased participation by small businesses linked to the healthcare sector.
As KwaZulu-Natal continues to face growing healthcare demands, the completion of the project has been highlighted as an example of how targeted funding can strengthen community-based healthcare infrastructure while contributing to long-term social and economic development across the province.
