POLOKWANE — There will be no early birthday celebrations for Lekompo sensation Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, known to fans as Shebeshxt, as he returns to the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court this morning with his future hanging in the balance.

The 30-year-old artist, who turns 31, is expected to learn when his highly anticipated trial will begin. Instead of marking another year with music and cheering crowds, the Rato Laka hitmaker faces yet another day in the dock after spending four months behind bars.

Chauke was arrested in November 2025 following an incident in Ladanna, where he allegedly shot and wounded a motorist during a heated altercation on October 19. The case has since gripped both fans and critics, casting a long shadow over his once-rising career.

Outside the courtroom, hope lingers. Loyal supporters have rallied behind the star, launching a petition calling for his release, insisting that the man behind the music deserves a second chance.

But inside, the reality is stark. The Lebowakgomo-born musician faces nine serious charges, including attempted murder, malicious damage to property, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

For now, the music is silent — and the wait continues.
