A total of 537 graduates in the fields of construction and real estate are anticipated to significantly impact their communities after completing a 12-month skills development program in Durban.

The graduation ceremony, which took place at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre on Saturday, celebrated the completion of training organized by Services SETA. This initiative was supported by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, led by MEC Musa Zondi.

The program is designed to provide participants with practical skills that will enable them to either join the workforce or start their own businesses in the housing and construction industries.

Graduate Snenhlanhla Buthelezi expressed her appreciation for the opportunity, stating that the qualification has already helped her find a job. “These qualifications have fostered a positive mindset for me and provided me with a clear direction in life,” she remarked.

Another graduate, Themba Maseko, emphasized the program’s wider significance. “I take pride in what I have learned. I am now prepared to launch my own business and generate job opportunities within our community,” he stated.

Officials are optimistic that this initiative will help reduce unemployment while also addressing housing demands throughout KwaZulu-Natal.
