BREAKING NEWS | Terror Suspect Arrested at Durban Gym

A 30-year-old man wanted on serious terrorism-related charges has been arrested at a gym in Berea, Durban, following a coordinated police operation.The suspect was tracked down by a joint team comprising the Durban Metro Police Special Operations Directorate, South African Police Service Crime Intelligence, and the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Tracking Team.

Authorities said he had been on the run for more than a year after fleeing from Johannesburg.A warrant for his arrest was issued in November 2025. Police confirmed that he faces a string of serious charges, including murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

He is also charged under laws dealing with terrorism and related activities.Officials believe the suspect may be linked to an international terrorist group operating within South Africa, although investigations are ongoing.

At the time of his arrest, police found him in possession of an unlicensed handgun, four magazines and 63 rounds of ammunition.The suspect is currently in custody and is expected to appear in court soon as investigations continue.
