BIG BROTHER MZANSI STAR GAINS CONTINENTAL RECOGNITION

Big Brother Mzansi season six participant Ashay Sewlall has gained continental recognition after being nominated for a prestigious Africa Golden Awards (AGA) honor. The 25-year-old reality TV star from Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, has been nominated in the Top African Reality TV Personality category for the 11th edition of the Africa Golden Awards.

The organizers revealed the nominees on March 5, placing Sewlall among some of the continent’s most prominent reality TV figures. Sewlall, affectionately called “Paprika” by his growing fan base, has emerged as one of the standout contestants in the current season of Big Brother Mzansi. His strong
performances in house challenges and multiple victories as Head of House have allowed him to avoid nominations and eviction on several occasions.


These accomplishments, along with various viral moments inside the house, have increased his popularity among viewers and social media supporters who proudly call themselves #TeamPaprika. The Africa Golden Awards celebrate excellence across various sectors including entertainment, music, arts, culture, sport, business, and social impact. The Top African Reality TV Personality category honors contestants who capture audience attention and create unforgettable television moments.


Public voting for the awards is set to begin on March 20, 2026, with the category winner expected to receive $5,000 (around R83,000). The nominee with the most overall votes will take home a grand prize of $50,000 (approximately R835,000).
