The Durban High Court has authorised the sale of five properties in Sandown, Johannesburg, as the South African Revenue Service (SARS) seeks to recover millions of rand owed by businesswoman Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize and her company, Zikhulise Group.
Judge Jacqueline Henriques handed down the ruling on Monday, allowing the properties to be sold and directing that the proceeds be held in an interest-bearing account pending further court authorisation.
SARS approached the court to seek permission to sell the properties, which were already under the supervision of a curator in terms of an earlier court order. The revenue service argued that the properties were losing value and that their upkeep was becoming prohibitively expensive.
According to court documents, Mkhize owed SARS R14 million, plus a R10,000 penalty, as of September 5, 2024. Her company, Zikhulise Group, owes a further R105 million.
Mkhize opposed the proposed sale, but her objection was dismissed by the court.
The ruling follows the sale of other assets belonging to Mkhize and the company. In July 2025, her vehicles were sold at a public auction for R3.28 million. Luxury handbags and other items fetched R933,000 in October, while further assets sold in November raised R1,764,620 and an additional R134,000.

According to the court documents, the sales generated a total of R6,112,420, which was paid to SARS to reduce the outstanding debt.
The five Sandown properties have a combined municipal valuation of R22.831 million. Following a separate assessment, their total value was estimated at R35 million, with anticipated sale proceeds of R24.5 million. The valuer’s certificate is dated October 13, 2025.
SARS has been given one month to approach the court for permission to use the proceeds from the property sales to settle part of the outstanding debt owed by Mkhize and Zikhulise Group.
The latest ruling marks another step in SARS’s efforts to recover the substantial amounts owed by the businesswoman and her company.
