Denis Hurley Centre Appoints Bridget Ward as New Director

DURBAN — The Denis Hurley Centre (DHC) has named Bridget Ward as its new Director, succeeding long-time director Raymond Perrier by the end of the year.

Ward will officially start her position on September 16 and will collaborate with Perrier for three and a half months to ensure a seamless transition. Perrier has been at the helm of the centre since its launch in January 2015 and has asked the trustees to find a successor as he prepares for a new phase in his career.

Ward has a wealth of experience in business and faith-based organizations, having worked with major companies as both an employee and consultant for the last 12 years. She has also been involved with a Durban organization that focuses on Christian education.

A graduate of UKZN with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Ward expressed her interest in the DHC’s dedication to addressing physical needs while fostering hope in marginalized communities.

DHC chair Canon Dr Delysia Timm noted that Ward’s dedication to justice, human dignity, compassion, and community closely aligns with the centre’s mission.

Perrier received accolades for his 12 years of leadership and plans to stay in South Africa, initially focusing on writing a book as a Research Fellow at the University of Pretoria.
