The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education has partnered with the Motsepe Foundation to deliver vital technology to schools, marking a major push toward digital learning.

The programme was launched at Sizathina Primary School by MEC for Education Sipho Hlomuka, where laptops, tablets and other digital tools were handed over to learners and teachers.

The initiative aims to improve access to technology, particularly in under-resourced and rural schools.Hlomuka said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to empowering learners with skills needed in a fast-changing digital world. He emphasised that technology is no longer a luxury, but essential for quality education.

The Motsepe Foundation’s involvement highlights ongoing private sector support in education and community development across South Africa.

The department has urged schools and communities to safeguard the equipment and ensure it is used effectively, as efforts continue to modernise classrooms and create equal opportunities for all learners.
