Authorities have foiled a major smuggling attempt at the Beitbridge Port of Entry, intercepting explosives valued at over R1 million. The Border Management Authority discovered mining explosives and detonators hidden in a secret compartment inside a trailer during a routine inspection.

The driver allegedly attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by officials on site. Investigations are underway to determine the origin and intended destination of the explosives.
