Authorities have foiled a major smuggling attempt at the Beitbridge Port of Entry, intercepting explosives valued at over R1 million. The Border Management Authority discovered mining explosives and detonators hidden in a secret compartment inside a trailer during a routine inspection.
The driver allegedly attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by officials on site. Investigations are underway to determine the origin and intended destination of the explosives. Authorities say the seizure highlights ongoing efforts to combat cross-border crime and ensure national security.
