The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education has started accepting applications for public school admissions for the 2027 school year. They are encouraging parents and guardians to apply early to make sure their kids get a spot.Applications began on Wednesday, April 8, and will end on Monday, August 31.
Education officials point out that late applications are a big reason why many students don’t get into their chosen schools each year.Muzi Mahlambi, a spokesperson for the department, advised families to plan ahead and not wait until the last minute to apply. Last-minute applications can cause overcrowding and fewer spots available. He suggested that parents apply to at least three different schools to boost their chances of getting in.
Mahlambi also said that parents should check in with their chosen schools about three months after they submit their applications to see how things are going and to find out if their child has been accepted. This announcement comes as there are ongoing worries about school capacity and the growing need for quality education in the area.
Officials believe that applying early will help make the placement process smoother and lessen the workload as the new school year approaches.Parents and guardians are reminded to make sure they submit all necessary documents correctly to avoid any delays.
The department has promised to do its best to place every student, but they stressed that applying on time is very important to reach this goal.
