South African broadcaster and journalist Masechaba Mposwa has announced her immediate resignation as anchor of the Weekend Report on Newzroom Afrika, bringing a swift and unexpected end to her role on the popular early morning programme.Mposwa confirmed her departure in a brief statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), offering no explanation for the sudden move.
“Dear all, I have decided to step away from my role as anchor of the Weekend Report on Newzroom Afrika with immediate effect,” she said.She extended heartfelt thanks to her loyal audience, adding: “To every viewer and supporter who woke up with me from 6am every Saturday and Sunday, thank you for making this show the success that it is.”
A respected figure in South African media, Mposwa boasts a distinguished career spanning television, radio, and communications. She has worked with leading platforms such as South African Broadcasting Corporation and eNCA, earning multiple awards along the way.
