The eThekwini Municipality’s Economic Development and Planning Committee has praised the work of SmartXchange Centre of Excellence for its continued efforts in supporting and developing small businesses through its incubator programme.
The committee, led by Chairperson Thembo Ntuli, visited the centre to monitor progress and evaluate the impact of public funds invested in the programme to promote the growth and sustainability of SMMEs.
During the oversight visit, committee members received a presentation outlining how the incubator programme has assisted emerging entrepreneurs through mentorship, business support services, skills development, and opportunities aimed at improving sustainability and creating jobs.
Project specialists Shante Hassan and Sharnel Pillay thanked the committee for visiting the facility and engaging directly with beneficiaries of the programme.
Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Naidoo was also present during part of the visit before leaving due to other commitments.The committee said initiatives such as the SmartXchange incubator play an important role in driving local economic development and empowering small businesses across eThekwini.
