News

PINETOWN — National Coloured Congress leader and Member of Parliament Fadiel Adams arrived at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court for his first appearance on charges linked to the long-running investigation into the murder of former ANC Youth League secretary-general Sindiso Magaqa.Adams faces charges of fraud and defeating the ends of justice after allegedly interfering in the investigation surrounding Magaqa’s 2017 killing. Authorities claim Adams made representations connected to evidence and witness accounts tied to the case.Speaking outside court before proceedings began, Adams maintained his innocence and insisted he possessed a statement from an alleged hitman claiming police officials were involved in the murder. Investigators have not publicly confirmed the existence or authenticity of the alleged statement. The outspoken MP was arrested earlier this week in the Western Cape before being transported to Durban under police escort. His legal team is expected to challenge aspects of the arrest and detention process during the bail application.Family members expressed concern over his treatment in custody, saying they had not been allowed access to him since his arrest. Adams’ wife described the situation as “a witch hunt” and appealed for authorities to allow the family contact with him as legal proceedings continue.
