KZN — Maidens from different parts of KwaZulu-Natal have gathered at the Mashobeni Royal Palace for the annual Umkhosi Womhlanga, celebrating Zulu culture, womanhood and the importance of preserving traditional values.
The ceremony is currently taking place, with maidens proudly participating in the cultural celebrations while highlighting the significance of maintaining their identity and heritage.
The event also places a strong focus on self-preservation and healthy choices among young people. Addressing the gathering, the Premier emphasised that embracing positive cultural values can play an important role in protecting young people from HIV and other diseases.
The provincial government continues to support cultural initiatives that promote health, preserve heritage and uphold the dignity of women.
Umkhosi Womhlanga remains an important platform for celebrating Zulu traditions while encouraging young women to take pride in themselves, their culture and their future.
