Sportswear company Joma Sports SA has been recognised for its growing contribution to grassroots sports development and community upliftment in South Africa following its continued support for schools and local organisations.
KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Mntomuhle Khawula, praised the company during a handover ceremony where sporting equipment and school attire were donated to learners from David Mkhize Primary School and Mpolweni Secondary School.Khawula described Joma Sports SA as a company playing a major role in developing sport at grassroots level through investment in young people from disadvantaged communities.
“Joma Sports SA is making a meaningful contribution by investing in the future of sport and empowering learners with resources that will help nurture their talents,” said Khawula.He further stressed the importance of partnerships between government and the private sector in ensuring that young athletes receive proper opportunities, support and equipment to succeed.
The donation included sports kits, equipment and school clothing aimed at encouraging youth participation in sport and promoting healthy lifestyles among learners.School representatives and community members welcomed the initiative, saying it would motivate pupils to participate actively in sporting activities and pursue their dreams.
