After nearly two years away from the public eye, Prince Africa Zulu has returned to the inner workings of
the Zulu monarchy, having been appointed as Deputy Royal Chancellor within the leadership framework
established by King Misuzulu kaZwelithini. The announcement was made on Tuesday by Zulu Prime Minister Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi, who confirmed that the prince will operate under Royal Chancellor King Malusi Zondi, who was appointed to this significant position in November of the previous year.

Prince Africa Zulu, a member of the Onkweni family, had previously acted as a spokesperson
associated with the royal headquarters before his abrupt withdrawal from public engagements. His
return coincides with a crucial period of restructuring within the Zulu royal leadership, aimed at
enhancing governance in the monarchy. Buthelezi characterized the appointment as part of a larger initiative to modernize and stabilize the leadership frameworks surrounding King Misuzulu.
“What is occurring is one of the methods to fortify the council, align it with contemporary standards, and
improve the efficacy of Zulu leadership,” Buthelezi stated.

The royal leadership team now comprises Buthelezi, Deputy Traditional Prime Minister Inkosi
Phathisizwe Chiliza, Royal Chancellor Malusi Zondi, Deputy Royal Chancellor Prince Africa Zulu, royal
spokesperson Prince Thulani Zulu, and Prince Nathi Zulu, who represents the king in the Provincial
House of Traditional Leaders. Prince Africa Zulu expressed his gratitude for the appointment.
“I am grateful to the King for the confidence he has shown in me. I will exert every effort to serve the
kingdom and enhance the leadership of the Zulu nation,” he remarked.
