A violent robbery occurred in Redcliffe on Saturday evening, prompting community safety advocates to
reiterate their calls for residents to stay alert and avoid walking in isolated areas.
A 54-year-old woman from Inanda was assaulted and robbed while visiting friends in the vicinity.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived at the scene around 19:31 after a concerned citizen made a
call.
Reports indicate that the woman was spending the weekend with a friend when they decided to visit
another acquaintance. While walking along a pathway, they met the acquaintance along with two
unknown men. During this encounter, the suspects reportedly hit the woman on the forehead with a stone before taking her cellphone and a black handbag that contained bank cards and identification documents. The suspects then fled on foot towards a nearby tavern.
The victim suffered minor injuries and received treatment at the scene. Community safety organizations emphasize that this incident underscores the importance of heightened awareness regarding personal safety. Residents are advised to steer clear of secluded paths, exercise caution when meeting unfamiliar individuals, and promptly report any suspicious behavior. Reaction officers searched for the suspects, but by Saturday night, no arrests had been made.
