Sassa Announces Revised November Grant Payment Dates to Avoid Election Disruptions

Social grant beneficiaries across South Africa will receive their November payments earlier than usual after the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) announced a revised payment schedule to minimise disruptions during the upcoming local government elections.

The changes mean millions of vulnerable South Africans who rely on social grants for food, transport and other essential needs can plan their household budgets around the updated dates.

Under the revised schedule, older persons grants will be paid from Friday, October 30, followed by disability grants on Monday, November 2, and children’s grants on Tuesday, November 3.

Sassa said the changes followed consultations with stakeholders and approval from National Treasury to ensure payments could be processed efficiently and securely during the election period.

The agency also urged beneficiaries not to rush to Sassa offices unnecessarily, assuring them that payments would be processed according to plan.

Revised November grant payment dates

Older persons grants: Friday, October 30
Disability grants: Monday, November 2
Children’s grants: Tuesday, November 3
Grants under review: Thursday, November 5

The November 5 date is specifically reserved for beneficiaries whose grants are under review.

Sassa has encouraged affected recipients to respond to official review notices and attend appointments when requested to avoid possible delays in their grant assessments.

For many households already struggling with rising living costs, the revised payment schedule offers an opportunity to plan ahead and ensure essential needs are covered during the month.

Beneficiaries are advised to take note of their payment dates and follow official Sassa communication for further updates.
