Pitso Mosimane could face a major challenge if he returns as Bafana Bafana coach, with several members of his trusted backroom team moving on to new opportunities.

The highly decorated coach is reportedly in discussions with SAFA and has already identified the technical team he would prefer to work with. However, some of his long-time allies are no longer available.

Maahier Davids recently joined Al Fateh as an assistant coach, while his brother, Fadlu Davids, and video analyst Kyle Solomon have also moved on.

Mosimane can still rely on long-serving fitness coach Kabelo Rangoaga and performance and data analyst Musi Matlaba. Both have worked closely with him during successful spells at clubs across Africa and the Middle East.

A source said Mosimane is also keen to retain Helman Mkhalele, who has been part of the Bafana Bafana setup since 2020.

Keeping familiar faces could provide stability at a crucial time for the national team, especially with preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers approaching.

Mosimane and his former staff have shared major success, including CAF Champions League victories with Al Ahly. But as trusted colleagues pursue new paths, the coach may now have to build a new team for another chapter with Bafana Bafana.
