In a deeply emotional visit, Thamsanqa Ntuli, Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, spent time with the Monswamy family following the brutal killing of seven of their relatives — a tragedy that has shaken communities across the province. Arriving at the family home, Ntuli was met with an atmosphere of sorrow, as relatives, neighbours, and friends gathered to mourn lives lost too soon.

Family members, still grappling with shock, shared memories of their loved ones — describing them as warm, hardworking, and deeply rooted in their community. The Premier offered words of comfort and reassurance, acknowledging the unbearable pain the family is enduring.
He emphasised that government stands with them, not only in mourning but in the pursuit of justice. “No family should ever have to experience such horror,” Ntuli said, calling the killings senseless and inhumane.

Beyond official statements, the visit reflected a human connection — moments of silence, embraces, and quiet conversations that underscored the weight of the loss. Community members also voiced fears about rising violent crime, urging stronger protection and swift action from authorities.
Ntuli reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to tackling violent crime and ensuring those responsible are brought to book.
