The KwaZulu-Natal Office of the Premier has held a service delivery reflection at the Archie Gumede Conference Centre in Mayville, Durban, bringing government departments and key stakeholders together to assess progress in delivering basic services across the province.

Held under the theme “State of Service Delivery of Basic Services by Municipalities,” the session focused on the realities facing communities and the progress being made by municipalities to improve service delivery.

A key presentation was delivered by B.S. Duma from the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), who provided an update on the implementation of resolutions taken during the Provincial Water Summit.

The meeting also examined the state of electricity delivery in KwaZulu-Natal, with Eskom’s Mr R. Naidoo providing an update on the electricity situation, including challenges and progress affecting communities across the province.

The reflection was not simply about reviewing past performance, but about reporting progress in real time and identifying areas requiring urgent attention.

Government officials used the platform to assess what has been achieved, what remains outstanding and where interventions are needed to ensure communities receive reliable basic services.

The session forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen accountability and improve service delivery across KwaZulu-Natal.
