Joint Operation Targets Illegal Businesses and Undocumented Immigrants in Pinetown CBD

A joint law enforcement operation in the Pinetown Central Business District (CBD) has resulted in the detention of 12 foreign nationals and the arrest of six individuals who failed to produce valid documentation.The operation was led by the City’s Supply Side and Area Based Operations Unit together with Metro Police.

It was supported by the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Department of Employment and Labour.Authorities targeted undocumented immigrants and businesses that were allegedly operating in violation of municipal by-laws. Officials conducted inspections of both formal and informal businesses to ensure compliance with regulations and legal requirements for operating within the city.

City officials said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to promote public safety, maintain hygienic business environments, and ensure that all businesses are properly registered and authorised to operate.

The City has vowed to continue conducting similar enforcement operations across various areas to ensure compliance with municipal by-laws and to protect communities from unlawful business activities.

Officials encouraged business owners and residents to cooperate with authorities and comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
