Mercedes-Benz South Africa has announced the recall of five Mercedes-Benz G-Class (G580) vehicles currently in the possession of consumers in South Africa due to a potential safety defect involving wheel bolts.According to the manufacturer, the affected vehicles may have wheel bolts that do not meet the required specification standards.

Mercedes warned that the defect could cause the wheel connection to loosen gradually while the vehicle is being driven. This may negatively affect driving stability and increase the risk of a crash or serious accident. The company has urged all affected consumers to treat the recall with urgency and immediately arrange for an inspection and repair at their nearest authorised Mercedes-Benz dealership.

Mercedes-Benz confirmed that all inspections and corrective repairs linked to the recall will be carried out free of charge to vehicle owners. The recall forms part of the company’s ongoing commitment to vehicle safety and consumer protection. Motorists are encouraged to contact their dealerships or Mercedes-Benz customer service for further information regarding the affected models and booking procedures.

Vehicle recalls are issued to address manufacturing or safety-related defects and are aimed at preventing possible harm to drivers, passengers, and other road users.
