Mayor Meets March and March Leaders Over Immigration and By-Laws

EThekwini Municipality Mayor Cyril Xaba has met with March and March leaders Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma and Xolani Zuma to discuss issues affecting communities in Durban, including illegal immigration and the enforcement of business by-laws. During the meeting, Mayor Xaba assured the movement that the municipality is committed to working with all stakeholders to maintain law and order in the city.

He said the municipality and March and March would work together on roadshows and awareness campaigns across different communities. The campaigns will focus on educating property owners who sublet their businesses to undocumented immigrants.

The municipality also plans to raise awareness about the risks of harbouring undocumented foreign nationals and the importance of following local laws.Mayor Xaba further revealed that the city is reviewing some of its by-laws and encouraged members of the movement to take part in the process by sharing their views and suggestions.Speaking after the meeting, Zuma welcomed the engagement with the Mayor and said the movement remains committed to peaceful action.

He said March and March members are law-abiding citizens who want their concerns to be heard through peaceful campaigns and community engagement.
