TWO MEN DEAD AFTER SHOOT-OUT WITH POLICE IN WESTVILLE

Two men have died following a dramatic shoot-out with law enforcement officers at a petrol station on Spine Road in Westville, west of Durban, early on Thursday morning.

According to reports from ALS Paramedics, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at around 06:30am after receiving reports of a shooting incident.

When paramedics arrived, they found members of Emergency Medical Rescue Services, security personnel and officers from the South African Police Service already at the scene.

Paramedics were directed to a vehicle that had allegedly been involved in a chase with law enforcement officers. It is understood that a shoot-out occurred during the pursuit.

Inside the vehicle, paramedics discovered a male who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was declared dead at the scene.

A second male occupant reportedly attempted to flee the scene by jumping over a nearby wall. However, he fell to the ground during the escape attempt and sustained fatal injuries. He was also declared dead at the scene.

A third occupant of the vehicle was arrested by police.

Authorities cordoned off the area to allow investigators to process the scene. The exact circumstances leading up to the chase and shooting remain unclear. Police investigations are ongoing.
