Relebohile Mofokeng’s father, Sechaba, is a happy man after Orlando Pirates chairman Dr Irvin Khoza honoured a bet by buying his son a house.
The bet was made before the start of the season, with R200 000 at stake. If Pirates failed to win the league title, Mofokeng would pay Khoza R200 000. However, if the Buccaneers won the title, Khoza would buy the young footballer a house of his choice.
Speaking during the second-season finale of the Giants documentary, Mofokeng revealed that Khoza had called him into his office during pre-season and showed him offers from overseas clubs.
Mofokeng said he told the chairman he was not in a hurry to leave and asked for one more season at Pirates.
Pirates went on to win the league title, ending their 14-year wait, meaning Mofokeng won the bet.
His father confirmed that Khoza had kept his promise.
“The house is there, he delivered,” Sechaba said.
Mofokeng has since departed for Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise, while his father celebrates the fulfilment of the unusual bet that brought his family a new home.
