Democratic Alliance eThekwini mayoral candidate Haniff Hoosen has welcomed a group of new party members in Newlands West Ward 11 Homedale, saying their decision to join the DA reflects growing dissatisfaction with other political parties ahead of the local government elections.
Addressing supporters during a community gathering, Hoosen said the arrival of former members from the ANC, EFF and MK Party signalled a shift in political confidence within communities that are demanding improved service delivery, safer neighbourhoods and accountable leadership.
The new members were officially introduced during the meeting, with several saying they were drawn to the DA’s promises of clean governance and visible leadership at local level.Hoosen told residents that the DA was focused on restoring trust in local government and ensuring communities receive reliable basic services, including water, sanitation and road infrastructure.
He urged residents in Ward 11 to work together to bring change in eThekwini, adding that the party’s campaign was gaining momentum across different communities in Durban.
The gathering ended with party members engaging residents on local concerns affecting the Homedale area and surrounding communities.
