Former Senegalese striker Mame Niang has reacted on CAF bizzare decision to award Morocco the AFCON title following controversy that engulfed during the final.
Speaking on Radio 2000 Sports show with Thabiso Mosia, Niang put his foot down.
“We are not returning the trophy, we are not returning the money and we are not returning the medals. This trophy is not going back to Morocco. This is crazy. It seems like this Afcon was made for Morocco to take it but Senegal spoiled the party. Now CAF wants an excuse to give it to them “
The ex SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns marksman added. “People in Senegal are angry but things like this don’t surprise me. The biggest loser here is CAF. You can’t wait two months after all the celebrations we did.. We can’t let FIFA run us. We must run our own organisation”
“This is wrong. If someone deserves to win, let them win. Winners are winners because they deserve it, especially if the winner went through the tournament unbeaten. Everybody thinks this is corruption. There’s corruption in African football and we can’t deny it “
