Liberia Police Investigate Death of South African Attorney Ntombi Khumalo

News

South African attorney and entrepreneur Ntombi Toni Khumalo has died under suspicious circumstances in Liberia, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Liberia National Police. Her husband, Samuel Jackson, has been detained for 48 hours after being elevated from a person of interest to the prime suspect.

Authorities say the decision followed preliminary findings from forensic analysis, witness statements, and a reconstruction of events at the couple’s residence in Sinkor, Monrovia. Inspector General Gregory O W Coleman confirmed that the detention is part of standard legal procedures while investigators determine the next course of action.

A forensic autopsy is expected to be critical in establishing the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, several household staff members remain in custody as persons of interest as police work to piece together a timeline.

Khumalo, originally from Gauteng, was a High Court-qualified attorney, founder of NK Attorneys, and owner of NK Brands. She also held a traditional leadership title within the Amantungwa/Nguni lineage.

The case has drawn attention in both countries, with her family expected to travel to Liberia as investigations continue.
