KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli is leading the province’s Africa Day celebrations in Durban today, with hundreds of people gathering to honour African unity, culture and shared heritage.The day’s activities began with a colourful cultural parade from King Dinuzulu Park to the Durban Playhouse, where participants dressed in traditional attire sang, danced and celebrated the diversity of the African continent.
Government leaders, youth groups, members of the diplomatic community, artists and cultural organisations joined the festivities.Speaking during the event, Premier Ntuli reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to African solidarity and peaceful coexistence amid ongoing debates surrounding undocumented immigrants in South Africa.
He said the province would continue addressing immigration matters within the framework of the law while promoting unity and mutual respect among African nations.The celebration highlighted Africa’s democratic and developmental aspirations while encouraging social cohesion across communities.
Later this evening, Premier Ntuli is expected to participate in the African Renaissance engagement at the Southern Sun Elangeni & Maharani Hotel in Durban, where discussions will focus on economic transformation, continental development and strengthening African cooperation for a prosperous future.
